Call: Teacher Spotlight

Recommendations Open for
Spotlight: Learning with a Critical Multicultural Educator

NAME is looking for critical multicultural education teachers! We are developing a web resource that spotlights the multicultural social justice, and culturally responsive teaching of critical educators. We welcome teachers who teach in P-university levels, across all subject areas, and across rural, suburban, and urban contexts.
We invite NAME members to submit nominations for the 2018 featured teacher. Nominations may be made by yourself or by someone else. Nominees need not be a member of NAME at the time of the nomination, but those submitting nominations must be NAME members.
Nomination materials consist of:
1) Up to 5 minutes of video that demonstrates your teaching; may also include students, parents, yourself explaining something, etc. (This may be 5 minutes consecutive or shorter segments joined together.) Submit via YouTube or Vimeo, and send us the link. Please email us for help if neither of these options work for you.
2) A maximum of five-page single-space description of how your work develops NAME's student outcomes for Multicultural Learning, with specific reference to the work in the video.
3) Your name, current school or other institution, grade level and/or subject area(s), and contact information (email address, mailing address, phone number).

The portal to submit materials will be open April 1 - May 15, 2018. All materials are due by 11:59, ET, May 15, 2018.

The Advancing Multicultural Learning Committee will review nominations in relationship to how clearly they illustrate NAME's student outcomes for Multicultural Learning, to select one teacher. A case study of that teacher (including video of teaching) will be developed for the NAME website.
