Annual Call for Teacher Spotlight Remmendations

The 2018 Call for Recommendations for
Spotlight: Learning with a Critical Multicultural Educator
has closed.

Annually, NAME looks for critical multicultural education teachers! We are developing a web resource that spotlights the multicultural social justice, and culturally responsive teaching of critical educators. We welcome teachers who teach in P-university levels, across all subject areas, and across rural, suburban, and urban contexts.

Annually, we invite NAME members to submit recommendations for the featured teacher. Making a recommendation is a benefit of NAME membership. The 2018 featured teacher will be presented at the NAME conference.

Nomination materials consist of:

1) Up to 5 minutes of video that demonstrates your teaching; may also include students, parents, yourself explaining something, etc. (This may be 5 minutes consecutive or shorter segments joined together.) Submit via YouTube or Vimeo, and send us the link. Please email us for help if neither of these options work for you.

2) A maximum of five-page single-space description of how your work develops NAME's student outcomes for Multicultural Learning, with specific reference to the work in the video.

3) Your name, current school or other institution, grade level and/or subject area(s), and contact information (email address, mailing address, phone number).

The Advancing Multicultural Learning Committee review nominations in relationship to how clearly they illustrate NAME's student outcomes for Multicultural Learning, to select one teacher. A case study of that teacher (including video of teaching) will be developed for the NAME website.

Please start thinking about submitting a recommendation, next year.
