Parental Rights Website

On April 7, 2004, Secretary Paige, OELA's Deputy Under Secretary Maria Hernandez Ferrier and others shared a special "Kick Off" presentation of information designed to assist parents and educators to better understand and work with parental rights and opportunities under the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB). The Kick Off event included a special media presentation outlining Parental Rights, including printable copies of the rights available in both English and Spanish. Other languages will be available in the future. You can access the presentation at:

National Association for Bilingual Education (NABE) - Promoting educational excellence and equity through bilingual education, the National Association for Bilingual Education (NABE) is the only national organization exclusively concerned with the education of language-minority students in American schools.

The National Clearinghouse for English Acquisition (and Language Instruction Educational Programs) - NCELA, the National Clearinghouse for English Language Acquisition and Language Instruction Educational Programs (formerly NCBE, the National Clearinghouse for Bilingual Education) is funded by the U.S. Department of Education's Office of English Language Acquisition, Language Enhancement & Academic Achievement for Limited English Proficient Students (OELA, formerly OBEMLA) to collect, analyze, and disseminate information relating to the effective education of linguistically and culturally diverse learners in the U.S.

Center for Applied Linguistics  - CAL is a private, non-profit organization: a group of scholars and educators who use the findings of linguistics and related sciences in identifying and addressing language-related problems. CAL carries out a wide range of activities including research, teacher education, analysis and dissemination of information, design and development of instructional materials, technical assistance, conference planning, program evaluation, and policy analysis.
