When NAME holds its annual conference in Kansas City, October 27-31, 2004 it
will honor of the 50th Anniversary of the Brown Decisions. Approximately 1,500
people will be drawn to Kansas City for the NAME conference and related events.

NAME is a 501-c3 non-profit volunteer/member organization of 1,800 members
dedicated to educational equity and excellence for all children. It unites
educators from all levels, preK-12, through higher ed, with community groups,
advocacy agencies, museums and cultural centers, and others committed to
creating excellent multicultural
schools that will prepare all our children for the diverse workplace and global
community.
NAME's Benefit concert of Vincent York's JAZZISTRY is perfectly suited for KC's
Historic Gem Theater, on 18th & Vine, Kansas City, and the audience! JAZZISTRY=Jazz
+ History+ Artistry. Mr. York and his 5-piece
band take the audience on a musical journey over 400 years, starting in Africa,
and swinging through the centuries with the greatest American music. It
demonstrates how the blending of diverse musical traditions and historic events
evolved into something uniquely American. It showcases that world treasure so
vital in KC, Jazz! The
program will include some of NAME's talented members and promises to be a most
memorable evening!
