Affirming Diversity:
Creating Multicultural Communities

Dr. Sonia Nieto,

NAME is proud to present the first in a series of DVD’s developed for the organization.  The first DVD, entitled Affirming Diversity: Creating Multicultural Communities, features nationally known educator Sonia Nieto.  Dr. Nieto is currently Professor of Education at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. The video explains how educators can create learning environments that truly affirm diversity and promote social justice for all.  Dr. Nieto is not receiving any compensation for the sale of this video as she contributed her service to NAME. NAME offers its profound thanks to Philip C. Chinn, former NAME Vice-President for his leadership in producing these videos.

 

Culturally Responsive Teaching

Featuring:  Dr. Geneva Gay, University of Washington

 

NAME is proud to present the second in a series of DVD’s developed for the organization.  This DVD, entitled Culturally Responsive Teaching, features one of our nation’s leading educators, Dr. Geneva Gay.

The increasing number of American students of color has made multicultural education more important than ever.  Dr. Geneva Gay explains a philosophy of teaching that affirms and responds to each student’s unique culture.

  Geneva Gay is not receiving any compensation for the sale of this video, as she contributed her service to NAME.

NAME is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in 1990 to promote educational equity and social justice. Profits from the sale of the DVD will go to promote a better education for all and provide scholarship funds.

 

Building Culturally Responsive Relationships with Diverse Families of Children with Disabilities

Update!!  NEW - now released is the latest DVD by NAME featuring Beth Harry, a Special Educator with a focus on  multicultural and family issues. She is a nationally known scholar who has focused much of her work on building positive relationships with parents of children from diverse backgrounds.  The video uses examples in special education but is applicable for use with individuals working with all parents from diverse backgrounds.
